Some awesome backstory…
SM Fearview is an impromptu passion project that oozed out of my brain on the first Monday of 2021.
It was around after dinner that the idea struck me. I asked myself what type of content could gain followers and possibly make people subscribe in the long run. I searched deep into my soul and combined these facts about me:
-- Writer
-- Lover of all things in the horror genre
-- Binge-watcher of various movies and series
-- Professional horror film critic
-- Experienced worker from the media and entertainment industries
-- Filmmaker
With that, the idea of consolidating all the horror movies I've seen and sharing my personal insights was born.
Looking back, I think I've written a few cheesy movie reviews in my younger years. This time around, I will be focusing on purely horror movies (which might probably expand to horror TV series) and will follow a format that is exclusively an SM Fearview trademark. I have yet to finalize the content inclusions that would make it distinct from other movie review providers all over the world.
One thing is for sure: the fun from the pun intended.
If you are a Filipino, you would instantly know that the name came from SM Fairview, a shopping mall somewhere on the outskirts of Quezon City.
As a writer, I played with the words and decided that SM stands for Scary Movies. For "Fairview," it's no surprise that people often mispronounce it in many ways, such as farview, furview, perview, pairview, parbyu, and, of course, fearview, among others. Again, it is simply wordplay using the term "fear" to indicate that it focuses on the horror genre. Also, the root word "view" is a bonus indication that the content is a movie review.
In the end, I believe I have chosen the best name to represent this passion project. Enjoy!
