Underlying Element: witchcraft & occult | rituals & curses
Director: Spenser Cohen & Anna Halberg
Synopsis:
This movie is about a group of friends who found a very old tarot deck in someone else's basement and used it to read their fortunes that turned into misfortunes.
Analysis:
Tarot (2024) is such a controversial film for legit tarot readers who are doing their best to promote the goodness of the practice. Time and time again, this harmless deck of cards has been used in movies to scare people into thinking that it is evil.
It's no different here. In fact, this movie will remind viewers of Final Destination. Plus, it's not just the fortune-telling and prediction that is scary. They also created monsters out of the images from the cards.
The story is so fast-paced, viewers might not be able to catch up with the lame acting and the predictable jumpscares. No emotional connection can be established at this speed, and so there is no sympathy for the brutal deaths.
The only good thing about this movie is how they were able to push an interesting backstory to explain everything.
Then again, it goes back to a lame ending.
