Analysis:
Rabid (2021) is a Filipino horror movie. It consists of 4 short stories, reminiscent of the Shake, Rattle & Roll franchise.
Each story focuses on the fears and anxieties caused by the pandemic.
Kami Lang Ba Ang Pwedeng Malasin? – This segment is a lesson in itself about trust and being wary of other people’s motives. This is the most realistic as it can possibly happen to anyone.
HM? – This segment is the most relatable in the sense that it tells about the struggles of a single mom who lost her job in the middle of the pandemic. The best part is how the desperation turned into extreme horror.
Iba Pa Rin Ang Karne – This black-and-white segment is a dramatic take on the zombie apocalypse, which everyone feared during the height of the pandemic. This is the least horrifying story out of the 4.
Shit Happens – This segment is an extreme depiction of the waking nightmares of hospital staff in COVID wards. The best part is the alternating visuals differentiating the real world and the nightmare.
All their endings are open for interpretation and can still leave viewers with anxiety-inducing nightmares.
