Analysis:
Possessor (2020) is considered the top horror movie of 2020, according to some entertainment websites. In most rankings, it is part of the top 5.
There is no doubt about it. Technology is always scary, and this movie proved that possession doesn’t need to be demonic to be considered terrifying.
What’s good about this movie is that despite leaning more on its sci-fi side, the blood and gore make it horror enough. The brutality and morbid visuals are a feast for the horror lover’s eyes. Of course, with the director being the son of David Cronenberg, what else can we expect?
In terms of acting, there is no question about the brilliant cast. With the possession plot, you can just imagine the skills they need to properly portray their characters.
The only thing missing is a backstory.
