Analysis:
Longlegs (2024) is a slow burn and might feel dragging at first, but stay put and be patient because the unexpected reveal towards the end is something that will pull the audience back.
Of course, with that cast of characters, everything is good, acting-wise. It's amazing how they were able to justify Longlegs' creepiness through the super interesting backstory. It's also nice that the camerawork clearly shows the difference between the flashbacks and the present time. It gives more context to the story in preparation for the shocking ending.
Speaking of ending, it somehow feels like the story is just unfolding after that big reveal. There's this itch to know more and let the movie explain further. But just when you are beginning to understand everything, they suddenly cut at a time when you want to know what happens next.
So many questions, so little time. There are a lot of subplots that can still be explored and explained. The suspenseful final scene definitely needs a sequel.
But then again, the abrupt ending might have made this movie more thought-provoking. It is open for interpretation given how the story turned out.
