Analysis:
Jennifer’s Body (2009) is a coming-of-age mild horror movie in the sense that it focuses more on the dilemma of a high school nerd who is in the middle of exploring her sexuality and battling her possessed best friend on the side. It also mostly displays how hot and pretty Megan Fox is during this time.
On most platforms, this movie is categorized as a comedy, but do not expect laughs. There are a few kills, but they don't focus much on brutality and gore. In fact, the slow burn attacks are leaning towards showing how Jennifer seduces the victims more than the act of killing.
For an audience that is familiar with demonic possession, don't expect anything of that sort. Although there is a bit of a flashback as to what happened in the van with the Satanic band, it's not a convincing possession theory. There is no concrete evidence of an actual demon supposedly entering Jennifer's body. It seems as though she is just a flesh-eating undead creature, especially with the way she gets weak when hungry.
Another weird thing about this movie is the revelation of the superpowers at the end. The story can survive without that since it doesn't have a sequel to explain that "demon bite" further.
All in all, it's a fun watch and can be recommended to those who don't want to be scared.
