Analysis:
Infested (2023) is a French horror movie that, no matter how brave or scared you are of spiders, will stay with you forever.
There is something about the acting that is on point and believable. But knowing how the French talk fast, viewers might want to prepare themselves to catch up with the subtitles to understand the dialogue. Then again, the scenes speak for themselves, and the spine-tingling squirms are enough to know that the premise of the story is really scary.
Even the CGI spiders look real. In horror films, carnivorous insects that attack humans might be predictable, but this one is a different thing altogether. Aside from arachnophobia, there is also claustrophobia from the setting where the horrific events took place.
Imagine being in a small space filled with spiders. That statement alone is terrifying, let alone seeing how the characters have to deal with it on their own.
The only problem is that the story is so fast-paced that it would seem like everything happened overnight. There are also questionable scenes towards the end that only add to the confusion and chaos.
That being said, this movie is not for the faint of heart.
