This movie is about a group of strangers that come together to kidnap a wealthy man's daughter, only to find out that they are the ones in grave danger.
Analysis:
Abigail (2024) is such a refreshing take on a vampire movie. The kidnapping is just the outer layer of a deeper story that this movie has beautifully unfolded.
The characters are able to make good use of their time onscreen to showcase their acting skills and match the energy of the talented child actress. She is just so good, especially with the way she delivers lines.
Throughout the film, there are a bunch of small segments where they try different tactics to kill the vampire and take a rest in between. They have definitely used buckets of blood, but the comedic moments make it a little bit wholesome.
A vampire is always a serious threat, but this movie somehow made it fun, and it's not just because of the child.
Also, the twists never end. Up until the last moments, they keep terrorizing audiences.
Towards the end, it's nice to think about the possibility of a franchise, with all the backstory and sequels that are so interesting to explore.
