Subgenre: Gore | Monster
Underlying Element: vampire
Director: David Slade
Synopsis:
This movie is about a sheriff of a small town who reunited with his wife during a month-long polar night when vampires can freely roam.
Analysis:
30 Days Of Night (2007) is not your ordinary vampire movie. By the title alone, you’ll know it’s going to be party time for the bloodsuckers. Imagine the terror for the townspeople in this month-long hide-and-seek.
With that in mind, expect a lot of blood and guts in this one. The way they feed is not anywhere near the demure and subtle neck bites in other vampire movies. The vampires here really look like monsters with their whole set of shark teeth and a lot of shaky movements. Not to mention the squealing noises!
The only sad thing is that the ending was a bit abrupt and shocking at the same time. For all the effort they made to survive, it was just too quick to get rid of the vampire boss. This will make you question what will happen in the next sunless month.
